My name is Emilio Bucks and I am from Chicago, IL
What’s the story behind your stage name?
Emilio is my birth name, and the ‘Bucks’ comes from my sometimes confrontational personality
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I am the son of a musician who grew up listening to a wide range of musical genres. I am an artist, producer, DJ, and sound engineer. I have a unique understanding of many facets of music creation and its presentation.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
On the song ‘Resurrection’ from the latest release from my group Senior Class, the vocals of the other 2 emcees were recorded and my vocals were recorded as the hook/chorus. After listening for 2 weeks, I decided to have the other 2 guys rewrite and record their vocals over, and I replaced my own vocals with a female voice to add contrast. I always push myself and others to be as great as possible on every song!
What message do you want to convey through your music?
To always dream big with an understanding that being on the journey is LIVING THAT DREAM!!
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I am a dedicated married father of 2 children. It is always a challenge to create, produce, and formally release music without sacrificing the needs of my family.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
(rapper)Common, (singer)Eric Roberson. I love the tone of their voices and I find them to be amazing song writers.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
In the next year I plan to tour Europe with my group Senior Class, and another group I produce-Verbal Agreement.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
The next big step will be to produce and livestream a performance in August of this year.
