What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My name is Jerome Richardson and I am from Los Angeles, CA.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
It’s my birth name.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I grew up impressed by artists who wrote their own music. It seems like a deeper level and different type of artistry to me. That led to me writing my own music and also singing.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
An interesting experience I had when creating my latest track was deciding what to name it. Whipped cream is festive and can also be sexy, so I thought Whipped Cream would be a fun title for a song.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
I want to convey who I am, my mood, and energy. My lyrics are autobiographical.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
One challenge I’ve faced during production was getting the deepest, largest sound possible. I realized I needed this effect at a level that is almost startling, like a loud movie. It’s a unique challenge with each song to choose each sound and its levels for the proper mix.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
If I could collaborate with any artist, it would be Pharrell, because we both have the same priorities when it comes to being creative through the entire process of a song.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
By this time next year, I’ll have released my first album and be deep into promoting my third single.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
The next big step for me is to begin live performances. Recording is one thing, but being on stage in front of an audience is its own kind of fun.
We occasionally feature artists on our Bird of Paradise Podcast for in-depth discussions. Would this be something you’re interested in exploring?
Yes.
Are there any other promotional opportunities you’re looking for to boost your visibility?
Not at the moment.
