What’s the story behind your stage name?

I came up with Jkai a couple years back while going through names with some artist I was creating with at the time. The name stemmed from my cousins birth name “kai’.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

A journey with no true destination. The experience is the reason for the fulfillment. Me just figuring it out.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

My last song I created I spent hours stuck on one part. just to wipe what I had and start clean. The song is much different now but had I never stayed consistent with figuring it out I would have never made something I appreciate as much as I do with this song.

What message do you want to convey through your music?

The journey of self. confidence, self assurance, love

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

My latest single ParkinLotPimpin was a song that sat with me for some months before getting the light it deserved. For the longest I was upset with my mix on the song, until linking with a talented engineer s/o Alex Yake who took the song to another level. I would say when you create something you aspire to be great , sometimes it takes time and new approaches to bring them to life.

Amy Winehouse . I love her. RIP
