What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My stage name is JRoberts. It’s based on my personal name—John being my first name and Roberts being my middle name. I combined the two after several prior names didn’t stick.

What’s the story behind your stage name?
The stage name came directly from my personal name. John is my first name and Roberts is my middle name, so “JRoberts” just felt right after I moved past a few previous name changes.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
Years of hard work and dedication went into mastering my own craft. I spent time finding my sound before establishing myself in 2022. I’ve always invested in myself, continually striving to elevate.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
One of my tracks from my recent album Gift and Curse, titled “Gift And Curse,” was the song that truly encapsulated the title and trajectory of the album. It’s an emotional and meaningful track for me.

What message do you want to convey through your music?
I tend to convey raw lyricism throughout my releases with a wide range of flows, cadences, and heavy production. I aim to speak to true Hip-Hop heads, the audience I know best and cater to.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
A challenge I often face is locking in and completing one project. I tend to start many different ideas, so sometimes I have to focus on a single album and finish it. I often create music spontaneously and later piece it into an album.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I’ve collaborated with a lot of my favorite artists already, but one of my top priorities would be working with the rapper Ransom. He’s known for his lyricism and wordplay, and I’d love the challenge of creating art with such a potent artist.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I see my music taking me to new heights next year, with a couple of projects set to release. I plan to build off the momentum of my album Gift and Curse and take advantage of opportunities that I didn’t capitalize on in 2024.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
The next big step for me would be stepping into the merchandise aspect and taking my talents on the road for touring and radio visits.

Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
You can find my music on all DSPs as JRoberts.
