From Nashville to the world, Jyou shares his journey of crafting relatable soundscapes and connecting with listeners on a deeper level.

Lanzen Tate: Jyou, it’s a pleasure to have you here. Let’s start with your stage name. How did “Jyou” come about, and what significance does it hold for you as an artist?

Jyou: Hey Lanzen, thanks for having me. “Jyou” is actually a nickname that stuck with me since my freshman year of college, based on my government name. It’s become more than just a name; it’s a reflection of my journey as an artist, a reminder of where I’ve come from and where I’m headed.

Lanzen Tate: Your evolution from a lover of all genres to a storyteller through soundscapes is fascinating. Can you elaborate on how your passion for music and writing intersect in your creative process?

Jyou: Absolutely. Music has always been a universal language for me, and as a writer, I’ve found solace in crafting narratives that resonate with others. Each track is a canvas for storytelling, a sonic journey that allows me to explore themes and emotions in a way that transcends words alone.

Lanzen Tate: Your latest track, inspired by a conversation about stress-induced insomnia, sounds deeply introspective. How do you approach translating personal experiences into relatable themes that resonate with listeners?

Jyou: It’s all about finding the common threads that bind us as human beings. Whether it’s love, laughter, tears, or triumphs, I strive to create music that speaks to the shared experiences we all encounter. By tapping into universal emotions, I aim to foster connections and inspire listeners in their everyday lives.

Lanzen Tate: Collaboration seems to play a significant role in your creative process. Can you share any insights from working with others, such as Casein, on bringing your vision to life?

Jyou: Collaboration is key in bringing my vision to fruition. Casein, in particular, played a crucial role in refining the sound and texture of the track, ensuring that my voice found its perfect pocket within the mix. It’s a collaborative effort that elevates the music to new heights and adds layers of depth to the storytelling.

Lanzen Tate: Your musical influences, including Frank Ocean and Freddie Gibbs, speak volumes about your eclectic taste. How do you envision collaborating with artists like them, and what unique elements do you bring to the table?

Jyou: Both Frank Ocean and Freddie Gibbs are masters of their craft, each bringing a unique perspective and style to the table. I believe our collaboration would be nothing short of groundbreaking, blending their lyrical prowess with my storytelling sensibilities to create something truly extraordinary.

Lanzen Tate: Looking ahead, what are your aspirations for expanding your community and networking across the East Coast region?

Jyou: I see my artistry as a bridge connecting communities and cultures across the East Coast and beyond. By expanding my network and reaching new audiences, I hope to foster meaningful connections and create opportunities for collaboration and growth.

Lanzen Tate: Festivals seem like an exciting avenue for showcasing your music. Can you share any details about your plans for festival lineups and booking opportunities?

Jyou: Absolutely. I’m actively seeking opportunities to showcase my music at festivals and events, connecting with audiences on a larger scale and sharing my stories with the world. For booking inquiries, interested parties can reach out to me directly via DM.

Lanzen Tate: Before we wrap up, any particular platforms or promotions you’re eager to explore for promoting your latest work?
