What’s the story behind your stage name?
I got my name because my sound is unique like its own genre and all my music comes from my soul.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
A journey of growth, love and self reflection born from a childhood desire for a safe space to feel and express. An awakening of the mind, body, and soul to an elevated understanding of the human experience. Through many trials, tests, and tribulations, the passion and love for the the art remains unwavering.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
I was watching a sermon one Sunday morning and I was so inspired by the message that I stayed in my home studio the rest of the day crafting the demo that would ultimately become “In Between”, the lead single from my upcoming album “Heavy Set”
What message do you want to convey through your music?
I want to convey a message of growth, healing, and discovery of true self-worth. I want listeners to know that they are deserving of real unconditional love. That they must seek to gain wisdom and that to reach their highest self they will be required to go against the ways of this world and trust God to be their source for the abundant life that they deserve to live.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
One of the challenges during production was making sure all the tracks sounded cohesive together. Since the sound is heavily fusion, it was important to include different sounds while sticking to the base style which is R&B. This was overcome by staying true to the form of vocal stacking and harmonizing and building in the sounds to match the vocal arrangements.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Lauryn Hill. I have loved Lauryn since she was with the Fugees. I instantly related to her free spirit and deep spirituality. She inspired me to not limit myself knowing that I could rap and sing on a track. I feel like we would make powerful music together.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I’m hoping to continue to grow my fanbase and expand my reach. I’m looking to do a tour of the album next year and position myself for bigger stages and national exposure.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Releasing my new album “Heavy Set” is the next big step. I’m excited to share this body of work and really showcase my versatility but also to touch the hearts of listeners in a way that makes a positive impact on the way that they show up in their daily lives.
