What’s your name and where are you from?
My name is Kid-Fest, I’m a rap musician from Rusternburg, Northwest province In South Africa.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
I came up with the name when I was in primary school probably around the age of 11 or 12. This was at a time when there wasn’t that many rappers with “Kid” so I wanted my rap name to be unique so I guess “Kid-Fest” just kind of stuck with me.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I started rapping at the age of 9 after my cousin took his life. I was introduced to Hip Hop by my brother, uncles and late cousin and have since fell In love with the craft. I stared rapping by freestyling all the way from school to my house and recorded my first song on a cellphone and released my first song on all DSPs in 2018 and since been making music for over a decade now.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
I was stuck on a song that I couldn’t really finish and was getting frustrated so I decided to hop on a different beat. I ended up making two new tracks that were incredible.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
That I’m the illest when it comes to the art of Rhythm And Poetry, all while helping myself and the listener understand each other’s perspective.
Behind the Music
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I ran into a lot of writers m block or simply doubting myself whenever I felt like I ran into a wall, I overcame this by meditating and listening to a lot of material from people I look up to sonically.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
J.Cole, this is only cause he is the best at his game and I love competition that would make me step up my game.
Future Aspirations
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I see myself winning a Grammy honestly, seeing so much success and growth in my craft.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
The next big step would be bagging a collaboration with Kanye West or signing to Atlantic Records
