What’s your stage name and where are you from?
King David the Recruiter
What’s the story behind your stage name?
My old rapping partner gave me the name The Recruiter. I used to be in the streets heavy then went heavy as an evangelist even heavier. The Recruiter for the army of YAH pretty much. King David came later. Another rapping friend suggested King David. In 2023 after having visions for two weeks consecutive the name King David the Recruiter was solidified. Prior to that I released music under three titles; The Recruiter, King David and King David the Recruiter.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
My musical journey has been a long one with many ups and downs, pain and heartbreak. From the beginning I never looked at doing music as a career or to be famous it was always like a calling to me. After about 25 years since first recording I’m finally in a place to do things in decency and in order.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
I literally recorded my last track in a public library in their free studio room that can be reserved.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
The hebraic scriptures is the truth and contains the right way to please the Creator of all things living.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
One of my challenges during production was going through homelessness for a couple years. I was able to overcome this obstacle by having my mobile studio everywhere I went.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I would collaborate with Kendrick Lamar. I believe we share similar beliefs and backgrounds. He’s been killing it for a while and it would be a great challenge. I already have the hook for the song. I received it in one of my visions.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
To not having to work a shift for another company but being a totally independent entrepreneur. I see myself being able to live off my music and other business ventures.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
I have a few projects that I plan to release this year. So doing a follow up album and doing some major shows. I need to be on somebody’s stage with massive concert speakers ASAP.
