Artist Introduction

What’s your name and where are you from?

Kiseme… San Ysidro, California

What’s the story behind your stage name?

I went through a series with my stage name. I started off with “Kiseme” which is my birth first name. Then I changed it to Semar Mushin. I was rapping with my cousin at the time. His name was Velle Ichiban. We both really love anime. So I used my moms older cousin nickname that she gave me which was “Semar” and combined it with “Mushin” and called myself “Semar Mushin”. Shit was lame as fuck. I remember a bitch saying if my name was “semen”. I was like fucked this shit. Then I changed it to “$eem”. I was rocking with $eem for a while but then my name was getting mixed up with Eem Triplin in the algorithm. So I was rapping with the homie Ichirou (which is rocky right now) and told me to go back to “Kiseme”. So I went back to what I originaly started with which is my birth first name. Kiseme.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

Many failures, hardships, and disappointments with my peers. Delusional egos and envious ways that caused division between homies. Many hours in the studio by myself expressing my life experiences through music.

Fan Engagement

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

Going back and fourth with homie Ichirou that I made music with. Working with buddy has been draining in all aspects of life. So its like Im doing this shit solo forreal. Seeing all my other homies never drop or hardly drop music anymore is the motivation for every track I record right now. I focus on dropping music.

What message do you want to convey through your music?

I want to inspire people to be a winner. I relate to the people that feel like a loser in their life. For a long time I felt like a loser. I want to inspire those people that feel the same way I felt before. I here to let those people know that they don’t have to accept being a loser and that they can become a winner. Being a winner is a lifestyle choice and they can make that choice to be a winner.

Behind the Music

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

That niggas say my shit sounds good but never trying to have me hop on a feature or niggas not trying to hop on my beats cause they rap on that trap shit, new wave shit, or whatever type shit they say they rap on. I said fuck it. I feel that I can compete with the best. So ima just focus on continuing crafting my own sound.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

Lauryn Hill. Shes one of my favorite artist. I love her voice. Shes one of those legendary artists that you must work with at least one time.

Future Aspirations

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

My music will take me to see new cities, countries, and to meet great creative awesome people.
