What’s your stage name and where are you from?

My name is “LOZEE” and I hail from southwest Colorado

What’s the story behind your stage name?

My stage name came to me in 2003 when after many years of making music but never recording albums. Me and the homie Mowgli put out a project about that time titled “NEIGHBORHOOD MUSIC” and birthed a new chapter for us as emcee’s outside of our main crew. It was that album that lead to my name change and being the moniker I stayed with since. As time went on I had a few groups I was a part of ARTIKLE (LOZEE and MOWGLI), UNDERSTUDYZ LOZEE and BIG ZAC), NON CENTS CREW (CREW of 5), THE COALITION (LOZEE and SKITTS), WHITE OWLS (LOZEE and DJ APP) and finally just solo albums under “LOZEE”

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

My music journey has been up and down for many, many years, and has introduced me to many people and life long friends that Im grateful for. Had some minor success here and there, with some plays on Shade45 at the top of that list, and released music with some very talented people. The journey continues and the music in the last 2-3 years has been the best yet and getting better every time.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

Once when creating a track I had been in the session for about an hour and a half and we were almost wrapped up with the end result. Before anyone hit save the power went out and we lost the whole session. It lead to the famous sticker that sits on my mixing board in plain sight that reads” PUSH SAVE”

What message do you want to convey through your music?

Reality, positivity, truth, and content

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

Production is tricky.. Most the people Im working with are overseas or in other city’s not near me. So my endless search for beats can be very exhausting and takes hours upon hours to find something I like. Digging through someones 100 beat catalog to pick out 1 or 2 beats and have that cycle repeat daily…. Thats why its crucial for me to maintain relationships with these producers I do work with so I have an outlet for my music and a product I like without losing so much time in the search. Its nice to email someone for a pack of beats and listen to what they have new, knowing you already like things they make and you have chemistry already. On the other hand though finding someone new that has beats you like is like finding buried treasure and is extremely rewarding.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

EVIDENCE would be my pick. Ive looked up to dude not only as an emcee but he wears many hats and his production is off the chain. He can bring the flames to the track and the verse, but his visuals are just as potent. All around he is what I feel is the embodiment of an true emcee. His music is his way and never compromised.. Also for the record to work with the GOAT-
Dj Premier would be on my bucket list and a dream come true. And a feature I always wanted would be from Apathy

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

Hopefully it will take me to your stereo or playlist!!!! I just want to be heard and after 25 years of chasing music I want it to provide for my family.. As much time and effort that is spent trying to create the music it would be a nice change to be on the other side of the business for once. Don’t get me wrong I don’t shop demos and my online presence is minimal so I shouldn’t expect a miracle, but a little recognition would be cool. I hope to be in the conversation of hip hop artists with something different than the trap star guys..
These last few years have brought new projects with new people and excited to see where they go! Shouts out to the incomparable MARZ ONE for linking up and making an amazing album with me. His youthfulness and absolute talent brought out the best in me and our project is a reflection of that. Our recent connection to TWOFACE MEDIA who mixed and mastered the project really brought it to life and to the next level.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

Getting my music out.. After all of these years I only put out a few projects. I have all the excuses like not enough time or money, equipment issues in my studio, or family first, and when I had projects recorded they sat in my hard drive and never saw a proper mix or the light of day. Ive had at least 7-10 projects that went unreleased and are on hard drives I cant open anymore… My next release is coming up and looking like sometime in April/May 2025. With a follow up to “Silence is Golden” with Marz One almost complete, Another solo album produced by “BROKENFINGA” awating mastering, and a project under way with Florida based producer MIKE MARTINEZ, and a handful of singles in there too!!! So I have a lot of music coming for 2025 and I recently talked with Jester Exodus a producer from TWOFACE MEDIA about a possible project coming or a few singles from his camp!! TAP IN!!

As I mentioned earlier my social media presence isn’t very big and Im mad late to getting my youtube or any video content for instagram and such going.
