Artist Introduction

What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Mia Muze Australia
What’s the story behind your stage name?
In a previous life before music, I had a website called Muze Design and Management which was designed to share essays, articles, information and art. In 2006, on the Eastside of Brisbane – I launched myself as Mia Muze
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
The Hustle is hard though ultimately an authentic way to gain street credibility or be tenured in Art. Being in a world where Electronic Producers like me can be seen and heard has been a blessing. I create with the need to share culture through art, and for my own survival.

Fan Engagement

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
Signing the boob on a woman who won my merch for the Storm Reborn kick off was a riot. That night, I had showcased in a beautiful venue, the audience were into it and this woman was so excited to win a ‘Storm Reborn’ shirt was a riot.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
Culture can be complicated, and is worth paying attention to and representing. Reappropriation in this context is a system of Honouring. My Real Life. Authentic Artist. Emotional Response. Whatever it be. To Feel.

Behind the Music

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
A challenge I face now as a Producer beyond myself is the ability to access a shiny or well paid scenario. I am a humble Artist, with a few hats. Most the hats do not speak the same financial language. I am now trying to cultivate solutions and ways to gain resources to expand.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Frank Zappa. One experimentalist to another. To work with him would mean that my sonic Soundscaping scope would be broad. Any sounds can constitute as music. That would be a fun studio session.

Future Aspirations

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Not so faraway places. I’d like to have steady work locally, with events that follow the next releases. I want to cultivate my music globally, from my home studio first and then within and from my immediate community. More notable success is absolutely welcome.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Directorship of my Record Label, Maquis Musick. Developing an expanded repertoire and also monetizing on previous catalogues. Seeking talent, collaborations and cultural context. Continued philanthropy as an Ambassador of Mental Health through Music and supporting the Homeless.
