What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My name is Isaac Castor. I grew up in Ann Arbor, MI and currently reside in Detroit.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
Real name no gimmicks.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I found early success in high school. Went through a downturn during my college years. Then I experienced a career renaissance after moving to Detroit as a young adult.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
“Why Should I Die” is the first single off my most recent album RH3: Smoking Caterpillar. Foul Mouth and I crafted the beat and lyrics respectively from scratch at the tail end of an all-nighter studio session when the sun was starting to rise. Surprisingly, the end result became one of my best songs to date in my opinion.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
I don’t really have a consistent message I want to get across in all of my music. Sometimes my outlook on life is joyous, sometimes it’s bleak. Whatever you hear from me on a given song is how I’m feeling on that particular day.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I face the challenge of writer’s block all the time. A lot of the times the cure is getting inspired by another artist’s work whether that’s a song, movie, etc. But oftentimes the cure is just getting out and living life. Spending time outdoors, going out and socializing, going on dates etc.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I’d want to work with Khruangbin. They are my favorite band and their tracks are so easy to rap my own lyrics along with.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Hopefully I become a big enough artist where I can start touring other states and countries within the next year.

I’m not allowed to share that yet!
