What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My stage name is Nuekuto, and I am from Sidney, Ohio.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
I used to go by Yungkuto until my great friend Yungplush knew someone who used “NUE,” so I dropped “Yung” and kept “Kuto.” I’ve been using NUEkuto for about 3-4 years now.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
It has been tough, and people always tried to drag me down. I struggled a lot, debating whether to give up or keep going. I finally decided to keep pushing forward, and I’ve never looked back.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
My latest album, “Anti-Trend” (out on June 7th), was made to challenge the new age rap trend. It was a long and difficult process, but the struggle was worth it in the end.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
My music speaks to the mental problems and struggles of finding out who I am and what I want to do in life. People can relate, but just because the lyrics mean something to me doesn’t mean everyone has the same experience.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
There were times I wanted to give up and scrap everything, but I pushed through those moments of doubt and started fresh. It was about keeping the faith and seeing things through.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I’ve already worked with Snoop Dogg and Eminem, but if I could have a song with any artist, it would definitely be Lil Peep. He’s probably my biggest inspiration in my music.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Hopefully into the big league.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Taking risks and making bold moves to grow and expand.
Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
My newest album isn’t out yet, but here’s my song of choice: Link to Song.
