What’s your stage name and where are you from?

RealityTV (comprised of Slang Troubadour & GetMoses) and we are from Milwaukee, Wisconsin

What’s the story behind your stage name?

We just thought, “F*ck reality TV” ha so that made us laugh, but also it’s like you can take the word “reality” literally, which is the opposite of reality television. So there’s like this duality between real and BS that made it a cool group name to us.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

We met at the Uptowner open mic and bonded over our love for underground hip hop. We never became friends until years later right after GetMoses recovered from leukemia. We’ve released 2 EPs and 3 music videos, and opened for acts including Atmosphere, The Pharcyde, Noga Erez, & DJ Abilities.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

We filmed a music video for our new song Reality vs. TV in front of this abandoned boat on the lake front in Milwaukee. It’s been stuck there for like 6 months and is getting tagged to hell. It’s on Youtube on the Higher Education Records page.

What message do you want to convey through your music?

We want to do it all, create music that people can heal to, but also grow to. Stuff that gets people through difficult times, but also the music that they play to celebrate or just vibe to.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

GetMoses has been moving back and forth between his places in LA and Milwaukee which has made things tricky, but we’ve used better time management to help combat that.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

Aesop Rock would be up there in our top picks. We bonded over knowing him when we first met. He represents a lot of what we love about music.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

We want to tour the midwest and do our first show out in LA. As well as dropping another project.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

Branching out to other cities for shows and dropping our first full album with some more features.
