What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My stage name is Roon, and I’m a Wall Street rapper originally from Nashville, Tennessee, currently based in Nashville.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
Similar to one of the “brown boys” Nav, his name is Navraj, and so mine goes from my real name (Haroun) to Roon.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I’ve always had a deep love for rap—listening to new albums is almost a spiritual experience for me. My close friends and family encouraged me to take music seriously, and I’ve been building my artistry ever since. While I’m still growing as a performer, I’m focused on refining my sound, expanding my audience, and breaking into new spaces where my brand of Wall Street rap can stand out.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
One of my most interesting moments came while writing a track inspired by my time in private equity. I realized that finance and rap share the same principles—risk-taking, patience, and strategy. We laid down the track in one night, and when I played it for friends, they told me it was fire, which gave me even more confidence in my unique lane.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
I want to show that success isn’t one-dimensional. You can be about business and still be creative. Whether it’s wealth-building, career struggles, or chasing dreams, my music reflects the mindset of those grinding toward something bigger—whether on Wall Street or in the streets.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
One of my biggest challenges has been balancing my music with my demanding career. It’s tough to find the time and energy to record after long hours in finance, but I’ve learned to stay disciplined—whether that means writing on my phone between meetings or hitting the studio on weekends.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I’d love to collaborate with Nas or J. Cole because they balance lyricism with storytelling in a way that feels authentic. Their ability to educate while entertaining is something I aspire to in my own music.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
In the next year, I see my music reaching a wider audience through social media and strategic collaborations. I also want to perform more live shows to connect with fans in person and improve my stage presence.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
I plan to integrate finance content into my music brand—whether through Instagram Reels, collaborations with financial influencers, or even a project that educates people on money through rap. I also want to release a polished EP that fully represents my vision.
