Artist Introduction
What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Said Sara – San Francisco, California, USA.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
Said Sara is part of a line from the song ‘Sara’ by Fleetwood Mac. The song is beautiful but dark, and I’ve loved it since I was a kid.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
Said Sara is the true crossroad of all of my musical paths through the years. I’m a metalhead and a punk, but I always was drawn to melody and pop music sensibility. It’s the way that music affects memory that makes it beautiful, and I want to create memories.
Fan Engagement
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
I realized during the writing process that the refrain from the “Toys ‘R Us Kid” TV commercial of the 80s was the missing link in ‘Then There You Are.’ It’s not copying, but one little part of my song is definitely informed by that melody.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
Break through the darkness, while embracing it.
Behind the Music
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
Once I receive the first mastered version from my mastering engineer, the clarity always makes me notice something that I need to go back and fix. It’s happened with the last two singles. It’s amazing what elements someone else can bring out of your creation without actually changing any of the instrumentation. The clarity can be stunning. This process isn’t so much a challenge, but a revelation.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Laura Veirs. I believe that our voices would mesh beautifully and naturally.
Future Aspirations
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
A podcast!
