What’s your stage name and where are you from?
i’m ShaunTheFlame, and i’m from the vibrant city of Johannesburg, in South Africa
What’s the story behind your stage name?
I made the stage name in grade 5, and I just decided to stick with it to pay homeage to that kid in me, it just symbolises so much. the name keeps me going and keeps me motivated to work hard for that same kid who had this dream i’m now chasing, the flame is a light leading me through my path
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I love the journey so much, it’s inevitable for me to succeed. The journey on its own has always been fun. I’ve been making music since 2011, since I was 7 years old to be specific, I’ve had ups and downs, days i get like giving up but I’ve went through it all and i still go through it but my passion for my art helps me persevere. I’ve performed in school, on stages.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
“Sky Is Falling” I was in my aunts living room while making this track, I was stuck for so long and then I just looked outside, at the sky while the instrumental was playing and everything made sense, that’s interesting to me, how anything can give you inspiration
What message do you want to convey through your music?
my music is a feeling, my music is my real life and I do my best to be as authentic as possible, I write about every single up and down and I want people to resonate with that, my life is a journey, my music is a journey, my music is a feeling.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
confidence on the mic, I wasn’t always able to express my voice as I did while writing songs in my head, after years of patience and consistence I finally cracked the code
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Definitely Jorja Smith! her music is so authentic, angelic and beautiful. Everything I stand for when I make music, I actually know someone who knows someone that knows Jorja lol, But definitely Jorja.
Future Aspirations
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
honestly I just want my music to reach as many people like me out there. I see my music growing and becoming better, quality, lyrically etc. As well as a bigger audience, performances and new Collaborations. But the main goal is to reach the whole world so they can feel what i feel!
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
The next big step for me has always been the same and that has to be consistency in everything i’m doing because all the small wins add up, Im expecting bigger performances, expanding my portfolio in terms of more songs on my discography. More networking and exposure and most important would be engaging and having a relationship with my people.
