What’s your stage name and where are you from?
T. Houze and I’m based in Maryland in the United States.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
My stage
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
My stage name, T. Houze, is a personal extension of myself, both literally and creatively. It felt natural to abbreviate my full name into something that felt familiar yet open-ended, allowing me to explore different sonic and artistic ideas under one identity.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
While working on my latest track “Odyssey”, I stumbled on a sound while casually playing around with a synth patch late at night. I ended up building the entire song around that one improvisational moment. It reminded me of why I started making music in the first place, to let spontaneity drive the process rather than perfection.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
That it’s okay to evolve and be multifaceted. My music is a space for reflection, for capturing fleeting moods, and for letting go of the idea that everything has to be polished or commercial to matter. I hope people find little moments of honesty and emotion in what I create.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
One challenge I’ve often faced is imposter syndrome, wondering if anything I’m doing is “good enough” because I didn’t come from a traditional music background. Over time, I learned to embrace that uncertainty and let it fuel my creativity instead of stopping it. I realized that fulfilling my own vision, no matter how niche or personal, was always the priority.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I’d love to collaborate with someone like Thundercat or Toro y Moi, artists who blend genres effortlessly and aren’t afraid to be weird or introspective. I feel like a collaboration with them would create something sonically unpredictable but deeply human.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
In the next year, I’d like to continue exploring visual storytelling to complement the music, maybe working on concept-based multimedia projects. I’m not chasing mainstream success, I just want to keep building my creative world.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Releasing physical editions of my albums, whether vinyl, cassette, or CDs into stores. I have set up physical vinyls and CD’s through ElasticStage, a full service Vinyl and CD on demand site where I can also send copies of my albums across the world. I also want to engage more directly with the local art and music community, possibly through installations or small performances.
Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
You can hear my latest album, The Echoes of a Sunday Soul, on Bandcamp, Spotify, and all streaming platforms. The visuals and packaging are available on my website: www.travishouze.com.
