What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My name is T. Houze and I am originally from Washington DC but currently in Baltimore, Maryland
What’s the story behind your stage name?
My stage name is pretty close to my real name. It was a nickname I was given pretty early in age and I just held onto it ever since then.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
My musical journey stemmed from personal exploration of my voice and what I could do with it in creative spaces. When I was younger, I was very self conscious of hearing myself since my voice changed drastically as I got older. I made the decision to create music as a change to really embrace what I sounded like deep down and wanting to try something new that I didn’t get a chance to do in the past.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
When I created my new song “To The Stars”, I knew I wanted to create a cosmic kind of harmony in the background with the singer and I played around with different effects to really change up the feel and pace of the song. It was the first time I really wanted to explore different ideas and sounds
What message do you want to convey through your music?
I want to convey a sound of personal exploration while living in the moment at the same time. I think there’s a tricky balance of substance while also giving the listener something to come back to beyond just the lyrics and that’s something I hope to continue to achieve.
Behind the Music
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
One challenge I faced was performing the third verse of “World In Your Eyes” where it involves a breathless moment for the first few lines. The challenge was I never like “punching in” on verses and it was nearly impossible to get it right in one go. After a whole day of trying to get it right, I stepped away for a few weeks, rehearsing the song like crazy and was able to knock it out in one take I usually do.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I would love to work with Janelle Monae because not only is she my favorite singer, but she’s also a major inspiration for my music over the years
Future Aspirations
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I see more people discovering the music I’ve made over the last few years. I know it’s atypical to take this route since new music is encouraged, but I do believe that I worked hard on the songs I made are deserving of new listeners ears
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
My next step now is preparing to shoot a major music video for my song “Silence” from my last album in the summer time. It’s something I’ve wanted to do since I made the song and I’m excited to take it on soon
