What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Hi, our stage name is Technotanguero and we’re from Rome, Italy. It’s me, Massimiliano, and my beautiful soulmate (and full-time muse) Ilaria.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
“Technotanguero” is the fusion of my two great passions. By day, I live and breathe technology; by night, I once danced the Tango Argentino, lost in its drama and precision. At some point, the two worlds merged, like a perfect remix, and the name was born. It’s rhythm, it’s innovation… so in a way it’s me.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
It all began with the synth sorcery of Depeche Mode and the wild imagination of Kate Bush — music that felt like stepping into another dimension. Then, life happened, pulling me away from it for a while, but the longing was too strong to ignore. Now, I’m back for good, crafting music to take us (and you) to places both beautiful and mysterious — because the journey never really ends, does it?
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
That track was born in the still of the night — or rather, in the chaos of it. Our little one (who inspired our first track “Firstborm”, by the way) was diving headfirst into the ‘Terrible two,’ and sleep became a distant memory. We tried to turn those restless hours into music, weaving exhaustion, wonder, and a touch of delirium into every note. Can you hear it?
What message do you want to convey through your music?
Well, music is the one language that needs no translation—it reaches everyone, everywhere, straight to the soul. Through our tracks, we want to whisper (or sometimes shout) a simple truth: be good to yourself, be good to others, and never waste a chance to feed your spirit. Life hands us fleeting moments of magic. So catch them, dance with them, and let the music carry you somewhere extraordinary.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
The biggest challenge for us is keep crafting sounds that feel fresh, that slip through the cracks of easy classification yet still hook the listener without letting them down. It’s a tightrope walk — too familiar, and it’s forgettable; too strange, and you lose them. We try to solve it by chasing that perfect balance, sculpting every note until it surprises, intrigues, and — if we do it right —takes you somewhere you didn’t expect to go.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Duran Duran and Depeche Mode. They shaped my musical DNA, each in their own way — Duran Duran with their cinematic melodies and unstoppable groove, Depeche Mode with their moody synth alchemy. Imagine blending those worlds into something new, a fusion of elegance and edge, nostalgia and future. Now that would be a dream worth chasing!
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Well, we’re aiming for bigger, bolder sounds — layering in more influences, more depth, more everything :D. Hopefully, we’ll hit the stage at a festival or two, make some noise, and — who knows? — maybe even hit that magical 10000 streams on Spotify. Dream big, right? Otherwise, what’s the point 😀
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Well, it’s maybe time to give our tracks a voice — literally! We’ve played in the realm of instrumentals, but now we’re bringing in lyrics and vocals to stir things up.
