What’s your stage name and where are you from?

My stage name is Transverse and I am from Louisville, Ky USA

What’s the story behind your stage name?

When I was a young teenager, I suffered through really bad anxiety and depression. Music with emotional vocal melodies, uplifting and/or heart-wrenching chords, and all around a beautiful and sweet vibe was my way out. I loved putting on my headphones every day and just turning up these kinds of songs, blasting them in my ears. This then became my main hobby, no matter how I was feeling. Along with this, I have always been fascinated by the ocean. The colors, the creatures, the whole vibe of the beach and the WAVES. I combined music with the ocean, so I can create a specific kind of atmosphere that I believe people will only be able to find with my music. Just like how a Transverse WAVE in physics goes up and down… so does life. My music is all about representing life. Constantly going up and down, all about enjoying who you are, and bringing your joy that may be deep down inside you, outward for other people too.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

First, I started out making simple EDM instrumentals on Soundtrap in 2019. Then, I started working on implementing more styles into my music, to connect deeply with more than just EDM fans. Now, I am making Melodic Future Pop music with EDM, Rock and Indie influences, trying to be a musical therapist for people all around the world.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

While creating ‘Lost In Thought’, Alex (AROB) and I used an A.I. app called Suno to get a basic idea for the song. I wrote the lyrics, and Suno made the melody, and then Alex and I worked tirelessly on expanding the A.I. idea we had received. It was so much fun and it was also different from what I have done before!

What message do you want to convey through your music?

Music saves lives. I know most people say this, but I really don’t know where I would be without music. Every single song I make, I want to make sure that it is the most soothing sound people have heard. I have songs for every kind of emotion or mood even, so no matter what, people can listen to my music and know they are not alone in the way they are feeling, and hopefully that can be something that can save their life, whether they really need that help specifically or not.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

Something I have struggled with in the past is trying to make my song sound perfect on every device that people may listen to it on (Phone, headphones, radio, etc.). Sometimes my song would not sound good on one of these devices, for example, phone speakers. How I overcame this was taking a step back, and doing a little bit less when mixing the track. In other words, less is more, and I was overdoing compression, and overdoing equalizing in order to get the “perfect” sound. But once I realized that as long as something sounds good, and sounds the way I want it to, there is no need to overdo things when working on my production. Since then, I have kept my music to be raw, simple and hopefully easy to listen to.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

I would love the opportunity to collaborate with Rosé. I believe that our contrast of styles would bring many different people together. With her vibrant and beautiful tone in her voice and my uplifting and unique styled instrumental, I don’t doubt that we could create something immensely special with a remarkably cool vibe.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

I see my music taking me to more opportunities to perform live. I also see it boosting my career as a musical therapist so I can help more people.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

Performing live out of state (out of Kentucky). I have performed one live show so far in Kentucky, which was awesome, and the next big thing would be to expand my public presence outside of just this state!
