What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Tripp! from Abingdon, Virginia
What’s the story behind your stage name?
My nickname since I was born has been Tripp, so I decided to go with Tripp with an exclamation mark to better emphasize my name and so I stand out from all the other artists named Tripp
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
Although my music journey kind of just started, it has already proven to be a rough ride. I’ve been producing all of my own music recently, with not much outside help at all because I really don’t know many other artists/producers and the ones I do know are unmotivated and seem to not want to put in the work. I’m still pushing every day to improve my music quality, learning how to mix and make different genres of beats, saving my best songs to be released whenever I know I’ve advanced tremendously at mixing and mastering and am satisfied with the mixes.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
When making my latest song, “FALLING FOR U”, I was mixing my vocals when I realized that the beat that Shiitami sent me had barely been mixed at all, which lead to me having to go very in depth with the mixing process and it taught me some mixing techniques that I don’t think I would’ve thought of otherwise.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
be yourself & express yourself, let people know the stuff you wouldn’t regularly say, the people who can love you for the true version of you are the ones you need to keep around, don’t let people influence you to do something you know you don’t wanna do or be a person you don’t want to be
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
On my song “idk what i’d do” featuring Jensen Roark, Jensen came over to my place and did his verse one take, and the problem with that was that there was a lot of times he came in early or late or didn’t hold a vowel long enough, so I had to learn how to do good pitch manipulation and I went and chopped up the word that he didn’t hold long enough and stretched it out and pitched it up so it would sound a bit more natural
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
This is a VERY hard question for me, but I’d have to say either Ye, Mac Miller, or Michael Jackson. Ye because he is an amazing artist who comes up with a bunch of insane ideas and me and him have a lot of artistic similarities. Mac Miller because he was an amazing artist who could always make me cry with his rhymes and was such a genuine person with incredible rhymes
