What’s your stage name and where are you from?

Wheelz (with a Z) an I’m from Kansas City, Missouri.

What’s the story behind your stage name?

Wheelz is derived from my last name, an some other kids would sometimes call me “wheels” in high school. I already made music then but it wasn’t my stage name yet, I made it my name around 2022, an dropped my first mixtape in 2023 “doomsday” under “Wheelz” on Soundcloud. soundcloud.com/wheelzv3

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

I started freestyling to myself walking home from school in 4th grade, then was recording myself when I was 12/13. I would always stay writing throughout school but didn’t drop much between 15 and 18. I’ve been consistently dropping on Soundcloud for about 2 years now, an all platforms for almost a year.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

While shooting a music video to a song that will come out Sunday April 20th (4/20) with my close collaborators OkCasheyy an Roneezy, we were doing this shot with multiple cars on the street and some lights and I kept getting waves as we were going through our city (Kansas City, MO) and I knew they didn’t know me or us, they just saw us and knew we were filming or doing something. But it was still so much fun interacting with total strangers who feel and see the energy while we’re jus out creating.

What message do you want to convey through your music?

Positivity an growth, but also not shy away from the fact that we are all human. We do all make mistakes, an it’s crucial we do so that we may learn. It’s all about how we learn, pivot, and then adapt after our mistake that truly matters, not the mistake itself. I’d like to convey that, I’m human I feel all emotions I’d like to convey all my feelings into my art.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

I freestyle vast majority of my music and I’ve had times I had been stumped in the studio and Homies like OkCasheyy (@okcasheyy) will help out with the flow or maybe suggest a bar, an then it ignites in my brain an I got the next 3-4 lines. But it’s vice versa, that’s jus how collaborating with great people goes.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

Any artist?? Any??? Tupac Shakur (2pac) because he is one of my favorite artists and a big inspiration, not only musically but impact culture wise, his film career, his overall artistry is just amazing to me, so definitely him is I could choose ANY body.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

In the right direction. I can’t see myself doing anything other than music, I’m 21 now and been doing this for about a decade, consistently and professionally the last 2/3 years. I’m only learning more, studying more, having more studio sessions, and being surrounded by more like minded an goal orientated individuals.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

Social media growth, lots more shows this year, accompanied by a steady stream of consistent singles on all platforms… an possibly some collaboration projects.
