Artist Introduction
What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Brett Ryder – Atlanta, GA.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
It’s my first and middle name. My parents purposely gave me a cool name that would lend itself to being a musician or an actor.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
As a little kid, I had a wide range of musical influences. Very early on, I discovered my love for music, and I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I taught myself bass and guitar, played in a few bands, and now, at the ripe old age of 18, I am writing and producing all of my own tracks – but I must give credit to the talent of an incredible producer, Michael Cummings, working with me on all of my music.
Fan Engagement
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
Nothing worth really talking about. All of my engagements and interactions are pleasant – not shocking or scary or super memorable.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
That not every song has to be cookie-cutter and fit into a specific genre. I make music that comes from the heart, not from an industry format.
Behind the Music
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
Well, during recording, I got sick for a month. I was already done with laying down every instrument and beat and just needed my final vocals, and I couldn’t sing for a long time! It delayed my release by a month.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Tyler, the Creator. He has been a part of me understanding music for the last 7 years, and he is an all-around inspiration for music, personality, imagery, fashion, marketing, etc.
Future Aspirations
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
To the bank, haha. But in all seriousness, I hope I keep playing bigger and bigger stages and get a song that blows up.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Hopefully getting to make music with some musicians I am inspired by.
