What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Awild Mind, I’m from County Clare in Ireland
What’s the story behind your stage name?
It’s in a lyric! I have in a song called “Something” the words are “Great intentions for A wild Mind, but I just stay in bed and bide my time” sums me up!
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I’m a songwriter/song maker, when I get a chance I stay in my office and I make all types of songs from folk to electronic to experimental, I like the raw spoken word stuff.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
I made 4 songs within a few days and I sent them to my wife to listen too….when I asked for feedback on all 4 tracks she responded…..I love boys of the choir so much.I didn’t listened to the other 3!!🤣
What message do you want to convey through your music?
That we are all human beings and we all feel emotions such as grief, sadness, nostalgia, the fear of age, alot of us are unable or choose not too express them, I’m hoping my music helps those who can’t express themselves by singing along to my songs.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I could never sing, I was awful and I’ve only just got better, so singing this was difficult for me but I wanted to perform my own songs. My producer was very patient and we got there … eventually
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I think Lyra, I would love to do a spoken word element in one of her songs!!
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I don’t think I’m going to be a star anytime soon but I am hoping to release another track in March and then maybe a small acoustic EP in the summer!
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
I have so many songs written and I feel I need to find who I am as an artist not just a songwriter, I want people to enjoy my songs but at the same time not be confused as to who I am…it’s a tough one! I like spoken word but I also have a raw acoustic style which I like.
