What’s your stage name and where are you from?

Nazzy the Mic and I’m from Philadelphia, PA

What’s the story behind your stage name?

People have called me Nazzy since I was a kid, I added ‘the Mic’ to it when I started taking music seriously. when I get that mic in my hand i’m just different.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.

I started getting interested in rapping when I was about 6, started going to the studio and recording around 12, and put out my 1st real release on my 16th birthday and Last Scar is still one of my most popular songs. Now I’m just doing what I can to grow as an artist.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.

Honestly, my latest released track ‘Boom Bap’ was more of a challenge to myself and others. I wanted to show that I could flow something like old school if I wanted to. It’s not my style, but my producer gave me that beat a few years ago and it was time so I gave it a shot and I think it turned out good.

What message do you want to convey through your music?

I make music for people who been through some stuff. So I guess you can say I make music for my people. People who turn to music either making it or listening to it as a form of therapy. It helps me get through the pain, the love, the hurt, all that, so I hope I can relate and help others too.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.

Sometimes, if I’m not feeling it, I’m just not feeling it. I used to try and push through, but the music never came out right, even if I ultimately released it. Now, I don’t force it. I take a break, I wait, do some other things and when I’m ready to record again, then I get back on it. I guess I learned to let it flow and not force it. No need to rush. Those who fck wit me gonna be there and appreciate it more if I give them my best.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

So many to name, probably someone in my lane like Polo G, Fivio, Lil Tjay, Rylo someone like that, or my boy crush Chris Brown, I’d love to do something with the big female rappers out right now too, like big Glo but our music is different, I feel like I can make it work whatever comes my way though.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?

I’ve been at this professionally now 4 years or so, I thought this was gonna happen for me as a teen when I started getting write-ups and charting a little bit, but now I turn 21 this year and I really would like to turn 21 having made it. So I’m working harder this year. I feel like 2025 might be my time. Trying to make that freshman class cut.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?

I just want people to know I exist, I’m nice with it, and I’ve been nice with it since I was younger than 14. I got bars I dropped then that people 30 still can’t fck with. Not arrogant, just honest. In all sincerity, I just want to take this music to the next level, get my mom’s out the hood and be able to do music full time.
