What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Caddy Pack from Heidelberg Germany
What’s the story behind your stage name?
When l was a kid l loved Cadillacs and Pack is my last name, so l decided to combine those two names and thats how the name was born.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I met my first producer at a rap battle in 2006. I started recording my own written music and had many major opening act gigs throughout the years to come. Today l feel more experienced and l even made it to the finals of The Voice Rap (spinn off of The Voice of Germany)
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
An interesting experience l had creating my last track called „long way“ was the feedback l got after the release. This was my first boom bap, old school type of song with nothing but pure rap on it and the feedback was really positive. It made me want to release more songs like that and l feel people are liking the roots of hip hop and how it used to sound more and more even in our modern days.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
Every song has a different message but mainly l would say it’s mostly about love, loving what you do, believing in yourself when times are hard or you’re at an all time low. To be consistent and dream, no matter what others think or say just keep going.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
When my producer decided to quit music, all of a sudden l didn’t have a recording opportunity anymore and no beats aswell. That’s when l decided to buy my own equipment and learn how to use it to record at home and not have to be depending on anyone els, as well as buying beats which is something l never did before.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
It would be Doechii because she inspires me. She worked so hard to get where she is at and her lyrics are smart and bold the music scene really needed a rapper like her. Also her style and sound is a bit different to the modern trap and drill nowadays and l like that.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Hopefully all the way up! I am determined and have multiple singles releasing throughout the year pretty much every month as well as my first EP planned in fall. I just want to reach more listeners and spread my music while expanding my music catalog.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
I don’t have a specific big step l would say. But as an independent artist there’s many steps you consistently have to take at the same time. Writing new songs, recording, planning releases, creating content planning and posting that, cover art for the releases, connecting with other people, trying to get bookings, etc. and this is on going. So l guess managing all of that will continue to be my next big step while also working a full time job and work life balancing.
