Artist Spotlight: Dane Diamond from Los Angeles, California

What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Dane Diamond – Los Angeles.

What’s the story behind your stage name?
My full name is Dane Diamond Errisson. As a kid, most people called me Dane Diamond. Eventually, I started going with that for everything.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
As a child, I was surrounded by every instrument you could think of. I told my mom I wanted to play everything imaginable, and she said if I learned piano, I’d be able to. After that, I always had a keyboard or guitar in my hand day and night.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
Most recently, while working on a song with an artist named Grethel Bonilla, I had the opportunity to mix strings into the record from a musician who plays for Taylor Swift. Needless to say, the arrangement is stellar. I cannot wait for the world to hear it.

What message do you want to convey through your music?
Art is paramount, and I am not beholden to any genre. I wholeheartedly understand that critics will always have something to say, but the fact that I can create any genre I want and know there is someone in the world who can connect to it is all that I need.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I recently worked on a song with an artist who gave a so-so performance, so I had the challenge of making it work in the best way possible but still having it ring genuinely authentic to the artist and the song’s listeners. In the end, the song was one of my best mixes and productions.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
St. Vincent. She encompasses everything that I love about music. She knows no bounds and is one of the best songwriters of my generation.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Hopefully around the world. I have a slew of artists I’m working with from many different genres. I’m always creating more and working with great people.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Continue working with more and more talented people and artists.

We occasionally feature artists on our Bird of Paradise Podcast for in-depth discussions. Would this be something you’re interested in exploring?
Yes.

Are there any other promotional opportunities you’re looking for to boost your visibility?
I’d love to be featured on a playlist.
