What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My name is DÜSDWNTHESTREET, and I’m from Maryland, US.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
There’s honestly no real story behind it. I just came up with it when I was 15 and getting into music production. I wanted something unique at the time, so I took the last three letters of my first name and added the first and most random thing that came to mind.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I’ve been making music pretty much all my life. I played multiple instruments growing up, and in high school, I started messing around with music production software, which really took off for me after I graduated. I had always wanted to make music as an artist ever since I heard “Stoner” by Young Thug back in 2013.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
I recorded the song while sick. It wasn’t ideal, but I’m being more intentional about my releases, and deadlines don’t wait for anybody.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
Be real. Be you.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
The biggest challenge I have is the same one every other artist has: themselves. You just have to realize it’s part of growing as an artist; it’s going to be uncomfortable. Consistency and reminding yourself of how far you already have come is how I ground myself when in doubt.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
If I could collaborate with any artist, it would have to be 070 Shake. I love her music—it’s just beyond words for me. She was very influential to me at the start of my career, so her music and her sound always have a special place in my heart.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Just building a more solid fanbase outside of my city. This is just the beginning, and we are just getting started.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Playing shows and doing more media appearances. It’s probably one of the biggest things I have neglected as an artist up until now. Also, expect a lot more music videos in the coming year.
Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, SoundCloud—the list goes on. I’m everywhere.
What is the best way to contact you if fans want to give feedback or if other artists/producers want to collaborate?
Either through Instagram DMs or email. I usually don’t miss anything on either of the two.
