What’s your stage name and where are you from?
I Am J/O/E from Fort Worth, Texas (USA).

What’s the story behind your stage name?
It was a childhood name that the homies in the neighborhood gave me due to someone else in the group who shared the same government name as me.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
So far, my journey is going better than I expected. It is very fun, productive, and starting to become more lucrative. If you truly want something, never settle until you grasp it.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
Every track is a level up. You gain experience, rank up, and get more results. So, I’m starting to experience that writing is getting a lot easier the more I enter the studio.

What message do you want to convey through your music?
I want people to know you can truly be yourself. You don’t have to hide behind a persona or any other form of mask.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
Sometimes you will try something over and over in an aim to perfect it. You may lose will and burn yourself out. Just try to focus on why you’re doing what you’re doing in the first place. I never gave up.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Blu is someone I look up to as a top-tier emcee, and his pen is limitless. I feel if I were to collaborate with him, it could take my skill up a few ranks. He is also someone I feel like we would complement each other’s style.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I feel my music will take me to more places I have not traveled to yet. I can’t wait to get there.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Possibly finding a booking agent—someone who can get me in places I could not get to on my own.

Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
My latest song, “Beer Mode,” is out now: https://bit.ly/beer-mode.
