What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Jahleel FaReaL from Austin, Texas.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
It’s a play on words. It stemmed from me always saying “FaReaL” after every sentence as a kid. Eventually, I figured it would be an easy way for people to remember my name.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I began producing in 2010 in college. I went on a national tour in 2011-2012 with a few major acts. I moved to South Korea for two years where I developed as an artist, and moved back to Austin and have been growing ever since.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
My latest tracks have been coming from my personality. After many years, I feel like I finally know myself musically. So, as of recent, my tracks have been an expression of my demeanor and style.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
I want people to know that quality music still exists and there are artists out there who still care to deliver a vibe.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I typically overcome challenges that halt production by focusing my energy on something else that could still help push the narrative. If I can’t write a song, I’ll focus on producing instead, and vice versa.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Ryan Leslie. He’s a legend, but not only that—he’s also an artist who produces his own music like me. He’s a mastermind when it comes to songwriting, progressions in production, and so much more. I know we would make something incredible together.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
To the top. That’s the only place left to go. I’ve been at the bottom my whole life, but next year, we change that.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Become a household name. I plan to hit the road and set my own tour in 2025 across the country.
We occasionally feature artists on our Bird of Paradise Podcast for in-depth discussions. Would this be something you’re interested in exploring?
Absolutely. Let’s do it.
Are there any other promotional opportunities you’re looking for to boost your visibility?
Podcast, video interview, etc.
Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
