What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My stage name is Martín Meola, and I’m from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

What’s the story behind your stage name?
My name is straight to the middle. I had other projects in bands where I used different names. My friends call me Chapa.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
Since I was a child, I felt the need to show my art. Passing through stages in Argentina, Spain, and Germany, I continue on my way to bring my music to the whole world.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
My last work, Flying Cats, was a relaxed, enjoyable, and laborious process. The memory that comes to mind is being at the Berlin airport, taking some samples of voices and ambient noises, which were later included in the track “Lost at the Airport.”

What message do you want to convey through your music?
Express my emotions, make my culture known, and spread love.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
It’s complicated because I live in a beautiful country but in a very bad economic situation. Financing the project is always a complicated issue. I usually produce concerts and parties with other bands to support it.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I would love for rappers to use my songs to improvise some bars. Kendrick Lamar is one of my favorites.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
In a few weeks, I’m going to Berlin to present my album Flying Cats and play guitar in a band during a tour. Afterwards, I’m going to dedicate myself to producing new music and playing live as much as I can from my country.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Getting my music heard by promoting virtually and playing live.

Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
Listen on Spotify.
