Artist Introduction
What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My stage name is Palmthesage and I’m from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
I’m not gonna lie, I bit heavily off of the artist Walethesage, but my last name is Palmer, so I just made it Palmthesage.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
So far, my musical journey has involved a lot of time, work, and patience. Watching myself go from freestyling every day to seeing my streams grow slowly from 0 to 1000 in the past few months has been mind-blowing, to say the least. The support I receive from people is honestly what pushes me to keep going, and I just love making music!
Fan Engagement
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
An interesting experience I had while creating my latest track was that I was going to make a hard old Tyler, the Creator “Bastard”-type of song, but then decided to put it on a peaceful Earl Sweatshirt-type beat and slow it down. It sounded a lot better.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
I want to convey myself as a funny character that doesn’t take himself too seriously. I would like my music to convey a variety of things, such as mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and shedding light on things that a lot of teenagers struggle with nowadays.
Behind the Music
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I used to record on Apple earbuds until I finally saved up enough money to buy my own little room setup.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
If I could collaborate with any artist, it would have to be Mac Miller. I feel like the vibes during the production of the song would be nonstop, and I feel like he and I would have a lot in common.
Future Aspirations
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Realistically, I can see myself growing to around 5000 monthly listeners and performing small shows at bars and things of that nature.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
The next big step for me is to step up my promotion. I’ve now realized that rapping is only 10% of being a rapper and everything else is the hard stuff, especially getting your name out there.
Recent Work & Contact Info
Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
My most recent work is my song “Sage” and it is out on all platforms.
What is the best way to contact you if fans want to give feedback or if other artists/producers want to collaborate?
The best way to contact me is through my TikTok and my Instagram, which are both palmthesage.
