What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My stage name is Pau Walters, and I’m from Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

What’s the story behind your stage name?
Well, it’s simply my name. I used to have a few different aliases, but people always told me my name sounds very good and marketable. So, during a rough patch, I decided it was time to give my real name a try. Being myself and showing who I am with no filter is what that represents to me.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
Born in between cultures. Looking for something that isn’t there yet. Finding out it’s what I was born to do.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
There are so many, to be honest. One of my tracks, Forgive Me, which is on my mixtape Avant Garde vol.1, is one I’m proudest of because I wrote the whole song in one sitting. I wanted to create a storytelling track and thought it would be difficult, but once I started writing, the story wrote itself—it came very naturally.

What message do you want to convey through your music?
On the whole, I want to convey that you should be yourself and not worry about what others think or do. On a more specific scale, I want to send the message that we as individuals have the power to change things around us. We can make a huge difference as individuals, and even more so as a collective. Nothing is truly out of our hands if we take responsibility and stand up for what we believe in.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
Budgeting is a constant challenge for me. As someone who has to self-finance their art, it’s hard to balance having a job that takes up a lot of time with creating music and branding it the way I want or need. I’m hopeful this will change soon.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I could write an endless list, but I would love to collaborate with Little Simz someday. I admire her so much and have followed her career for the longest time. You can hear a lot of her influence on my music, and I would love to create something with her.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Hopefully around the world. My skillset as a technician has already taken me to many places. Right now, I’m just creating and doing the work to replace my income as a technician with income as a musician. It’s a bit of a transition, but I believe it will take me to amazing places—it already has, and I’m working on that last leg to make it sustainable.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
I have a few festivals and projects in the works that I need to confirm. My main focus right now is to keep going no matter what. I believe soon, budgeting won’t be as much of a concern, and I’ll be able to make music full-time. That will be a big step forward for me.

Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
You can hear my latest EP, Suave, on all platforms—just search for Pau Walters – Suave on your preferred platform. There’s also extra video content on TikTok and YouTube. If you enjoy the project, you can support it by purchasing the vinyl release on Bandcamp.

What is the best way to contact you if fans want to give feedback or if other artists/producers want to collaborate?
