What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My stage name is Shawn Tyler, and I’m from Summers County, West Virginia.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
It’s my real name, nothing special to it.
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I come from a musical family; my grandfather Lonnie Mullins has been my biggest influence. I’ve been surrounded by the music industry since I was 6 and grew up in that environment. That experience led me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in music with an emphasis in audio production, and I’ve been producing, songwriting, mixing, and mastering records ever since.
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
While creating the latest release, “Obsessed,” Zay Blaze immediately connected to the production. It was a seamless experience collaborating with him.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
I like to impact the listener somehow. I want my music to make a difference in your life, take your stress away, relax your mind, make you want to enjoy the experience, etc.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
Staying in a creative space during songwriting and production is the hardest challenge I face. I try to get initial ideas down and expand on them when I’m in a more creative mindset.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I’d love to collaborate with Morgan Wallen or Chris Stapleton as I’m a country music songwriter and fan.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Looking to expand my clientele and work with artists of all genres.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
I’m hoping to get noticed for my songwriting and acquire a publishing deal.
