What’s your stage name and where are you from?
Trivial Phont, Manchester UK
What’s the story behind your stage name?
the fountain of all triviality, except spelt different as I’m phat ^_^
bit of word play, but I originally started making tracks as “triumphant dubs” and while I do still love dub music and dubstep, I feel my sound as Triv is… different…
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
lifelong discovery and an ever present experience,
I have “the ear” and am only now learning how to best use it
10 years deep in production, constantly working on my sound but only just started releasing
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
sometimes tracks write themselves… my most recent one (not yet released, like nearly 50 others) “Let it Slide”, on hearing the finished arrangement back, I immediately sang the Corus and while my verses probably aren’t the best on it, I enjoy the laidback feel of the chorus a lot ^_^
What message do you want to convey through your music?
all sorts but mainly taking the white pill…
things often suck.. really suck… but we’re going to win anyway ^_^ Also, Dubstep never dies, it simply mutates and tries to thrill you again !!
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
I discovered an error I had made when I created my mixing template that meant I had practically compressed away all the bass in my tracks… needless to say I immediately corrected the issue and have a lot of work to do to fix nearly 5 albums worth of other tracks I produced using the same template -_- yeeeahhh I produce A lot, mainly for the mental health benefits, but anyway ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK YOUR WORK KIDS
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
Eminem … king of rap and always will be…
Boregore … you literally can’t make heavier dubstep than that guy !! The Streets … as I am often compared to them
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
to a stage near you ? or at least a studio near me XD
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
wow… lots of them here…
always improving my production skills and working with vocals getting a little name Recognition, and better streaming numbers playing to an audience,
collaborating with other artists,
Getting on the radio… if I can refrain from swearing…
Where can we hear/watch your most recent work?
