“SO MY CHILD” walks a delicate line between spoken word and hip-hop, never rushing its message. Instead, it lets the weight of each word settle before inviting the next. Over a dusty jazz loop and the gentle breath of live trumpet, the piece unfolds like a letter unsent—personal, weathered, and brimming with reflection. There’s a sense of movement beneath the surface, not just through the city streets of Seattle, but through memory, time, and the moments we carry quietly.
HISTORY OF TIME is more than a name—it’s a collaboration rooted in transition. Formed by three musicians who crossed paths in the Shoreline Music Program just north of Seattle, the group pulls threads from punk, hip-hop, and rock, braiding them into something deeply personal. The driving force behind this track, Roy, channels the rawness of change—both in geography and identity—after moving to Washington and finding creative kin in his bandmates. Their influences vary, but the cohesion is tight, grounded in trust and experimentation. This one doesn’t try to impress with polish. It lingers with purpose.
