🔊MJOFFICIAL – “Don’t Trip”

It is something mesmeric about a first that is unflinching. No fillers, no stagedomore bars, grit, and the truth. Don Trip MJOFFICIAL is coming out fighting with a track that sounds like this has been the case since he first put pen to paper. Arriving out of the crowded and constantly churning UK rap scene based in London, MJ is far more than arriving, he is also taking his space.

This is why MJ is not only talking about his personal transformation but to all artists who ever struggled in the face of silence among sounds. That uncertainty of the years spills over and on this song it burns all the lines. The fire; but do not take that to be chaos. We have a sharpness here–a deliberative energy that makes up the difference between impulse and intention.

But it is not the only song title, because Don t Trip is a credo, it is a manifesto. MJ provides razor-drawn lyricism to cloey modern UK production with acidic hooks running through a pulse that simply does not want to stand still. What is most compelling is not his flow or the desperation in his tone, but that the song seems constructed like a thesis, i.e. a thesis that investigates the notion of expression as a kind of duty, and the strain of the self-made grind in an environment that is already so full of fads.
