Thain’s ‘Still Sick’ is a Midwest Masterclass in Hip-Hop Discipline

8

Thain, a Wichita resident of the United States, is an independent artist who is working at the intersection of the hard rock vitality and the hip-hop accuracy in his lyrics. Thain subscribes to a natural creativity in the same way that Eminem and Kendrick Lamar are influenced by storytelling depth and the intensity of sharpness respectively. In this single, he would join forces with a local producer Hippy K and producer Steven Shields of Audio Paradolia (who had done production work with the band For the Birds). Such a mix of hip-hop format, live music, and local unity characterizes the sound of Midwest rap art.

The actual title Still Sick, and its Emo Rap essence, also suggests a never-ending inner struggle the sickness as the burning need to create or the psychological costs of the hustle. Passionate and Urgent tone justifies this conflict, and converts this tension inward to outward, electric energy. This song is not appealing to be liked; it is insisting on being heard because it has all the focused power, it is a poetic declaration that the skill to provide quality when required is the most accurate indicator of creative genius.
