Artist Introduction
What’s your stage name and where are you from?
barber boy , Christchurch New Zealand
Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
Chasing after my music goals and creating has been a great learning experience. It’s has been extremely humbling at times where iv had to take on constructive feedback to elevate my sound. It’s taught me there is no shortcuts and to make music that I am happy with rather than trying to make music I think others would like.
Fan Engagement
Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
In my last video shoot I got to go to a rural air bnb that was space themed and had a ufo with a living room and bedrooms in it which was really cool not something I get to do every day.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
I have no message I am trying to spread however if I were to share a message I feel is important to me, i would advice follow artists to make art they are happy with rather than trying to make for other people. This is because it is our art work and we need to do it for ourselves and if people like it that is a bonus.
Behind the Music
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
Fortunately I havnt come under any major challenges, sometimes coming away and re writing verses/hooks after sitting on a track for a while, I like to sit on tracks so I don’t rule out any other ideas that could potentially come to light.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I would love to drop a verse for Earthgang, they have been a great inspiration for helping me explore my hip hop side further.
Future Aspirations
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
Hopefully overseas with many bookings.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
I’m not sure what the next big step is, I look at my progress in baby steps so im not trying to over step, my aim is to stay consistent and keep delivering with my word play and picking the right beats. Iv been doing a lot more research into how to get my music noticed further so I’m sure if I keep doing what I’m doing I will reach the numbers I am hoping to reach.
