What’s your stage name and where are you from?
My stage name is YS88, and I’m from Lleida, Spain.
What’s the story behind your stage name?
At the age of 12, I met my best friend, may he rest in peace. With him, I discovered how to create music and enjoy it to the fullest. That’s why my artistic name refers to him—YS88. “Y” means Yung, which is “Light” in Chinese. “S” stands for Star, the first “8” represents the lucky number, and the last “8” symbolizes infinity. Together, Yung Star 88 means Light, Star, Luck, and Infinity.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
When we were making the last track with Edward, my producer, we were trying to find an original mix. Finally, Edward managed to create mixes of original genres that even made me go crazy with what he did. You can hear it in the last song, Mil Razones, which explores the difference between your alter ego and you as a person.
What message do you want to convey through your music?
A message with different meanings for different types of personalities, where each person can interpret the song and its message in a thousand ways.
Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
Being original is the challenge we face in every song. We always manage to give it unique and original sounds and melodies by simply connecting with each piano note and taking risks by experimenting with ideas that might not seem great initially.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
The truth is, I would really like to collaborate with several artists like Eladio Carrión (for his bars), Trueno (for his flow), and someone from the old school. However, I’m open to collaborating with any artist who brings something new to the table.
Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I trust in myself and my team, and I am optimistic. I think this will be a very good year for my music and me. I will beat a personal record of viewers and perform my first big concerts.
What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
Signing with a major label and supporting a big project in the long term.

There are many ways to promote myself, and since I’m just starting out, I take advantage of any promotional opportunity.
