What’s your stage name and where are you from?
I’m Zheta AKA and I live in Valencia, Spain.

What’s the story behind your stage name?
When I was a teenager, I had surgery to remove a birthmark that was going to turn into skin cancer. The scar that remained from that was a Z about a handspan in size. That experience marked me on many levels and represented a turning point in my life, which is why I decided to call myself Zheta. The second part of the name, AKA, I added when I resumed my music career in 2024, and it refers to the variety of styles within the Hip Hop genre that I enjoy exploring and interpreting.

Describe your musical journey in three sentences.
I started in 2008 and became known locally as a member of the D-Fuck Crew collective. In 2024, I resumed my solo career in search of a new sound and with lyrics of a more reflective and personal nature.

Share an interesting experience you had while creating your latest track.
My latest song “Qué rico” has lyrics with a high sexual charge; it was fun to record it because I was alone in my home studio, but when I showed it to my producer for mixing, I wanted to die of embarrassment.

What message do you want to convey through your music?
I want to convey transparency and honesty. I want to talk about the things I have lived through so that those who relate can feel supported and empowered.

Tell us about a challenge you faced during production and how you overcame it.
Well, starting over after such a long time has been a challenge; I have the knowledge of a veteran but with the resources I had when I first started. Now I self-produce, so I am learning and really enjoying the process.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I have a rule: I wouldn’t want to collaborate with someone I’ve never had a coffee or a beer with. I’d like to stay true to that.

Where do you see your music taking you in the next year?
I’m preparing an album with my partner Be King Beats, which is going to be a real statement of intent and a demonstration of this new sound and new phase I’m working on. I love music, and I’ve come back to stay.

What’s the next big step for you as an artist?
The release of my first solo album.
