This is the kind of journey that Essibee does not wait to gain approval. As a Leeds-based rapper, the artist has since entered the industry in 2022 and has been working hard in the manner that most musicians can only dream to–writing more than 300 songs, recording another quarter on his own, and honing his craft outside of the spotlight of fame-seeking. It is not volume or velocity that are unique to him but it is voice. And his new release, the song, Life Worth livin, brings out the voice in all the colors.
Produced, in collaboration with long-time collaborator ObserveTheSun, the song acts like a mirror in front of the listener, showing all their wrong moves, their insecurities, their deep mid-night spirals, but still in the end the reminder of why we can get back up. With chained bars and reflective lyrics, Essibee leads us through cautionary tales-bad decisions, low self-esteem, fragmentation of self identities-before switching on to lyrics of power. It is straightforward, but the message is haunting: the world can not re-write you.
